number 37

For my birthday, my mom gave me tickets to see Wait, Wait, Don't Tell me, one of my most favorite shows on NPR.

I have really wanted to go see one of these shows, which is why it was on my 100 things list. #37 in fact.

I am fascinated by radio. Talk Radio. I just love the world that gets created, how just telling stories captures a complete picture. It is like another way of taking a photo, well not really. But, I am amazed by how just speaking out loud and talking and sharing creates images in our minds. And doing it out loud, not in a blog or a novel, or some other written form. Speaking.

I am fascinated. I don't even really kn0w how to describe it really, but it has to do with this project that I am brewing about giving people a chance to speak. To tell. To be heard.

So, the radio thing. One of my most favorite things is to drive around with NPR on and just listen. It doesn't even really matter what's on. It propels me to other times, to secret thoughts and wishes. It connects me to other people across the world. It leaves me feeling humbled. And uplifted and strengthened.

When I heard that Wait Wait was coming to Colorado Springs, I knew I had to go. I took an old friend, who I am enjoying getting to know again. It was fun.

I loved seeing how they did it, how simple it was. Getting to put a face with the voice. But, I have to say that I think I love the finished product more. When I can just drive in my car and listen.
